Have you ever had a dead squirrel dropped on you?

Well....I came this close to having one land on my head this morning!
You see....I was out in my back yard...when all of a sudden this huge hawk type bird swoops over my head...it was really low....and then plop! it drops its breakfast at my feet! It was a half-devoured squirrel! YUCK!

Week 8: #19 Web based Apps

I signed up for an account at Zoho Writer and took a look around.
I think this would be a great benefit if I did not already have a word document program on my computer. It still may hold benefits, even to those who do already own such programs.
I liked that it had templates you could use....I can see how those would come in handy.
It is easy to use....a major plus!
I guess it deserves a bookmark on my computer for future reference......

Week 8: #18 Social Networking

I watched the video and looked at some of the links provided.
Social networking is something I have been doing for years!
Although I do have a myspace account....I do not blog or post on it. I do, however, keep up with some of my friends via their myspace accounts, which is why I have one....
My favorite way of social networking is actually by participating on a chat board. There are tons of chatboards out there that cover a wide range of interests.
For example...I am a member of several chat boards based on scrapbooking. They have different forums for discussions on anything and everything...not just scrapbooking. So....I can scroll through the topics I am interested in, and join in the conversation if I want...or just gather information.
If ever I have a question or need advice or help with ...say...a product....all I have to do is post a new thread, ask for help, and VOILA!....within minutes I will have answers!
Its a very valuable resource for all sorts of information, and I make friends along the way as well.
I can also participate in swaps, challenges and contests....so much fun!

I also participate on other boards dedicated to other interests...and have made the most wonderful friends all over the world. It gives me the opportunity to reach out and "meet" people that have the same interests as I do, that I would never had known if not for the message boards.

Week 7: #17 Technology

I love technology. Its addictive! I love all the information you can find on the web.....
Although I am an eager learner and user of computer technology....I am a little behind in all the technological playthings such as mp3 players, cell phones, and pda's. Those things I have a problem with learning and using! I'm a pretty basic person and all I need are pretty basic items to play with. It drives me crazy to have a camera on my cell phone....I can't tell you how many pictures I have of the inside of my purse...ok....I can tell you, because I counted them once....its 19! and I can't figure out how to delete them! The manual for my phone is like....two inches thick! UGH!
But! I can play all day on a computer.....and figure that stuff out pretty easily.....so....there ya go!
I love that I can watch old tv shows on my computer....I've been having a Gidget marathon this past week.....and that I can access movies....and music.....
Oh! and I just got a really neat new device that hooks up to my computer that "prints" with a knife blade! So I can type out a word or input an image and then send it to my cutter and it will cut it out on paper or cardstock! So cool! So technical! And to think...I used to have to cut all that stuff out with an exacto knife and hope I didn't slice my finger off in the process!

Week 7 #16 Wiki's

I added my blog to the wiki sandbox site....
I do not rely on wiki's for accurate information...although they may serve a purpose for "fun" information....but since anyone can add anything they want, I do not see this as an absolute form of trustworthy information.

Week 6 #15 Library 2.0

I read all five of the perspectives......ok...so maybe its just because its late at night and I need some shut-eye....but it was not such interesting reading. I get what they were saying....that libraries need to be a step ahead, use technology to our advantage, think outside the box kinda stuff.
Yeah....I'll agree to a point. I still like the old actual book in hand approach and I think that will continue to be important to people in the future.
